I have an 11 week old kitten named Farra. I know kittens are playful, but maybe this is a bit much? She's always running around and when I go to pet her, she'd rather attack my hand. She doesn't bite hard, and always licks me, but she won't stay still to let me pet her. And she always jumps claws first. i have a nasty cut on my finger from her digging her claws in. She's a tabby cat, and I know they're supposed to be tempramental.
Will she calm down? Is there anything I can do to chill her out a little bit?
oh she's being a normal feisty cute and adorable kitten!!!! She needs to have some way to get her ya yas out. you should get her some toys like the fishing powl with a stuffing fish or mouse on a string. just swing it back and forward and she'll chase it for hours. those little balls with jingles in them are also nice. just wadding up a piece of paper and letting her bat it about is also entertaining. they love bags and boxes. just don't use ones with the handles in tact as they can get stuck on the neck.hope this helps and enjoy your baby. they are so cute for such a short time.
She has a million toys. Cute isn't what I'd call it lol. But maybe it is just normal kitten energy.
Aww yeah all kittens are like that. Try the lazer pointer and have her run around chasing it and maybe she will get tired. LOL
Try some kind of scratching post or kitty condo covered with carpet.
But basically, I'm afraid all kittens are like that. They can go through phases too. Mine was real lovable for a few months and then turned into a monster. He will lie beside me and let me pet him, but he no longer sits on my lap or wants to be held. Even the types of toys he likes to play with has changed over time. So you just have to put up with their ways. LOL
There is a little cat here that did the same for a time. Within about a month, he has calmed down mostly on his own.
Cats are predators, and so most of their games will involve hunting, stalking, springing up on their prey and digging claws and teeth into them. So it's good to have toys and play time with the kitten to alleviate some boredom. If the kitten starts to play too rough with you just walk away. Eventually they will learn that when they play rough, play time ends.
If nothing works, just put the cat in the freezer for about 2 or three minutes. That will chill him or her out.
Purr brrr purr brrr
I'd say you've got at least a year and a half of that to go. I firmly believe cats are kittens until they reach at least two years of age. Max is definitely in that category. He's probably one of the sweetest cats I've ever met but he's got a lot of energy and really not enough space to work it off. And he's a big cat to begin with. With luck though the space problem should be taken care of once my fiance and I move into a bigger place. But Max does the pouncing, especially when I'm in bed and trying to sleep. God forbid I move my feet even a little under the covers if he happens to be laying by them.
oh God yes, and Farra doesn't let me sleep in the morning when she wakes up. she's either nosing at my face or standing on me or trying to dig her way under the covers.
That sounds like Max. In fact he just woke me up a little while ago.
So kitty wakes me up so much through the night, I feel horrible when I wake up in the mornings. Is there anything I can do to keep her off me or off the bed at night? i would move her food and litter out of my room, but it might confuse her. She wants to walk on me and be up at my face.
Well unless you're willing to cover yourself and your bed with double-sided tape or something else that kitty, and probably you, will find unpleasant to touch, I don't think you've much hope. As for me I don't have a proper bedroom so I can't just close the door on Max.
My cat would play with the plastic bags and get her head in the handle and then run around the apartment really fast. It was almost like super kitty! Then she would atact the bags and continue to play with them. and for the timper thing, it just seamed to happen over night, one day she was a crazy kitty and then the next day she was calm.
Lol, at post 6, I had a cat we had to give him away. that cat was the laziest fatest thing you would ever see, and he'd let me do anything to him.
My sister's cat, who used to belong to my brother until he moved to a place that wouldn't allow them, is the same way. All she do is whine and cry. She was such a fat cat that one of our favorite activities was to pick her up and hold her in our arms so that she was flat on her back and tell her over and over to stretch until she finally did. It didn't hurt her really, although it probably did annoy her.
This cat at one point weighed about twenty-four pounds. Let's just say she made quite the thump when she landed after jumping off of or onto a surface like the kitchen table. And she always used to grunt when she landed. Of course as far as I know she's still with us. Anyway an up side to her being so big is that she could always keep your feet nice and warm on cold nights, provided of course you didn't move. If you did she'd get disgruntled and most likely leave.
I hope that after what happened yesterday, my kitty will be crazy again. she got attacked by a pitt bull, and her right back leg is nearly torn off. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow, and I hope she makes it. I'm calling animal control in the morning. That dog's in for it. So yeah, value the craziness while it lasts.
Oh my Gods! Poor baby. Prayers will go out for her tonight for sure. Please keep us all updated and best wishes for the kitty.
she's at the vet now with a broken leg and a wound in her side. they're doing xrays and bloodwork on her. The prognosis is good since she's up and walking around a bit. She should be ok, but you never know. if she has internal injuries, that's a whole other can of worms.
I'm glad that at least she's up and about. Hopefully, those xrays will come soon and give good results.
Here here. Hope the kitty pulls through.
update.
she's out of the vet, and doing pretty well. her leg's still broken, but she's walking around and eating and playing a little. She's sleeping on my rug where I laid my fuzzy bathrobe... aww.
That's good to hear.
